I really appreciated the working in groups. I'm personally not very good at dissecting papers and finding things to improve within them. However, watching my group give each other feedback and myself helping as much as I could, I saw ways that even really good writers have room for improving.
For my paper, I was fortunate to receive mostly good feedback with the occasional comment that I could use a tad more imagery, which I figured. The good feedback worked constructively as well though. My group all agreed that my paper was very inspiring and drew them in which I was very happy to hear. That encouraged me to continue with the style I was going with which I was a little doubtful with prior to this.

  1. I also felt more confident with my writing after the group discussion, just like you. Hopefully all the feedback you received will help you with your paper!

  2. I really respect the attitude you took toward your feedback, Cheryl. In classes from previous semesters, I sometimes felt cheated if I received only positive feedback. Looking at what you said, though, I see that positive feedback holds the same weight as negative or constructively critical feedback. Both help to shape the trajectory of a piece.

  3. Effective feedback has benefits for the giver and the receiver. Your attitude towards your feedback will help you to write a better essay and like you said even the best writers need room for improvement. So it's good that we take each other's positive and constructive criticism to help us to be better writers.

  4. So glad you liked the feedback you received, it was truly a great essay! I agree, I have trouble giving feedback but I feel as though our group did a great job and hopefully everyone else enjoyed what they heard as well.
